2017 saw the introduction of Children’s University at Banksia Park School R-7. Students in Years 3-5 (in the inaugural year) nominated to be involved in the program. Essentially, Children’s University is a learning opportunity for students to engage with in their own time. It aims to build confidence in students and encourage them to link with subjects that can be studied later in life at University. Students can attend programs in ‘Public Destinations’ such as libraries, zoos and sports clubs or ‘Restricted Learning Destinations’ within the school, chess club, sports club, German club, as long as the activities are outside of school curriculum hours (ie before or after school, or during recess or lunch time) Upon completion of the required hours, students attend a graduation ceremony at the University of Adelaide, wearing full gown and mortar board. See the attached document for more detailed information about this exciting new activity being offered at Banksia Park School R-7.
